I didn't understand him at first, so I asked him to repeat it and he began to shout at me, which made it even harder to understand. At first the driver seemed nice enough, but after driving for about 10 minutes, he asked for $20 to pay.something. There were soda cans and chip bags everywhere. Once I got into the taxi, I found it was very, very dirty. The lady ordering my cab ride mumbled the jobs superfast, I could just barely make out $65. Then I made the terrible decision to take the Newark Taxi. I was so excited (I wanted to go to school here so much that I only applied to schools in New York) and couldn't wait to enter NYC. I was here for a PhD interview in Manhattan and I flew into Newark.
I did tell him, but I also told him I was very surprised he didn't have a GPS, especially as a taxi driver servicing the airport. After he drops me off, he asks how he can get back on the turnpike. So, for a few minutes, I acted brand new, but then, decided I want to get home so let me direct him. I was a little ticked because although I did know where I was going, how about if I was visiting (as I do in the other major cities where this has not happen) and I didn't know where I was going.

"yes" and he asks if I knew how to get where I was going. I told him I knew I had to pay for the toll, but I was paying by credit card and there was no mention of the toll needing to be paid in cash. Then, I was on a call and the driver is says "hello", and I said "yes". I decided to take a yellow taxi on a recent trip and knew my fare would be $xx plus tolls.
While I'm a native New Yorker who now leaves in New Jersey (less than 3 miles from New York), I cringe when I experience customer service that is subpar in my hometown (New York City or New Jersey) because I think of my coworkers and what they may experience when NY or NJ is our meeting location. I travel frequently for work and have been to most of the major cities.
